The Home Depot Center and the ADT Event Center
ADT is a founding partner of the Home Depot Center – one of the most significant training centers for amateur athletes in the country. This Olympic-sanctioned training center opened in July 2003 and hosts year-round world-class international events. The venue also hosts a variety of Olympic sports including soccer, tennis, track and field and cycling – setting the stage to link the youth of today and the Olympians of tomorrow. The unique state-of-the-art training complex is set on 125-acres approximately 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills.

The most formidable aspect of ADT’s sponsorship is its entitlement of the ADT EVENT CENTER. The Event Center is the only enclosed World Class velodrome between Sydney and London and provides up to 50,000 square feet of event space and 2,500 seats for fans. Through its sponsorship of the Home Depot Center, ADT is making a difference in youth and in American athletes through the development, training and competition provided by athletics and to develop character through competition. The project is owned and operated by AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group), on of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world.

  ADT Championship
The ADT Championship is the widely anticipated season-ending event of the LPGA season, set amongst the waterfalls and luscious tropical trees of the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach. Lorena Ochoa of Mexico emerged as the winner of the 2007 ADT Championship (November 14 – 18), taking home the title and the $1 million first prize, the largest paycheck in women’s golf. The 2008 tourney is set for November 20-23.

A play-off structure was introduced in 2006 making the qualifying process more difficult and rigorous than ever before. In this new format, 32 players qualify for the ADT Championship through the LPGA Playoffs 2007, a year-long competitive structure that splits the official LPGA season into two halves and culminates at the ADT Championship. Ten players from each half qualify for the ADT Championship using a performance-based points system—ADT Points—throughout the year. Two additional wildcards will be determined following The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions. In addition, ten spots will be awarded to the victors of Winner events, which are defined as all official LPGA Tour events with a purse of at least $2 million.

Once the Championship begins, players then have to survive two cuts, one after 36 holes and another after 54 holes, to make it to the championship round. On the final day, eight players have a shootout for $1 million, the largest first-place prize in women's golf.

ADT Golf Skills Challenge
In the ADT Golf Skills Challenge, some of the world’s best golfers are paired with current and former professional athletes and other celebrities. The teams are put to the ultimate test of their golf abilities through a series of nine skills: long drive, greenside bunker, putting, long iron, trouble shot, pitch shot, fairway bunker, short iron and chip shot. The 2007 event was taped for television on November 5 at The Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Miami, FL. The 2008 event is set for Nov. 2-4.

The ADT Skills Challenge is among the longest running events from golf’s so-called “Challenge Season.” It is etched on the calendar as the only golf on network television (NBC) in late December, when the sport is in its off season. All eight players will wear microphones as part of an elaborate production that showcases great shot-making and player personalities.

The 2007 ADT Skills lineup included:

  • Natalie Gulbis, top LPGA pro, winner of the 2007 Evian Masters and member of both the 2005 and 2007 victorious U.S. Solheim Cup teams, and John Elway, the NFL Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback of the Denver Broncos.
  • Bubba Watson, arguably the tour’s longest player and the fifth place finisher in the 2007 U.S. Open, and Dan Marino, NFL Hall of Famer and former Miami Dolphins’ great who holds the NFL records for single season and career passing yards.
  • Greg Norman, golf icon and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame - affectionately known by fans as the “Great White Shark”, and New York Yankees standout Roger Clemens, one of the best pitchers in baseball history.
  • Peter Jacobsen, winner of the 2004 U.S. Senior Open and the 2005 Senior Players Championship, plus ADT Skills Champion in 1992, 1993 and 2005, and future NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, the consensus greatest wide receiver in NFL history.
