Your Alarm System’s Analog Cellular Transmitter May Require Replacement :
A policy change by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is allowing cellular service carriers to discontinue providing cellular service using analog cellular technology also known as AMPS. If you have cellular backup or a cellular radio is the primary means of alarm signal transmission from your alarm system to ADT, and it operates on an analog cellular network, it will stop operating and stop sending alarm signals when the cellular companies discontinue their analog network services and they change to a digital network. ADT has aligned staff to help its customers with this transition and is assuming part of the cost of the replacement equipment. This page explains why this change by the cellular service carriers requires that homes and businesses with an analog cellular transmitter must be upgraded with a new digital cellular transmitter.
What this means to you:
In an emergency, your analog cellular transmitter will not send alarm signals to our Customer Monitoring Centers when the cellular companies shut down their analog networks.
Your cellular transmitter must be replaced with a new digital transmitter to maintain your current level of service.
If your cellular transmitter is not replaced, the system may "beep" until an ADT technician services it. Click here for a Alarm Panel silence commands.
Costs:
To help offset the expense of this equipment change, ADT is paying for a considerable portion of the cost.
If you received a letter from ADT regarding ADT records reflecting that an analog cellular transmitter is part of your security system please call us at 1.800.610.0197 to schedule an appointment immediately.
If you have not received a letter from ADT reflecting the above and you are not sure if you have a cellular transmitter that is affected, you are encouraged to call 1.800.610.0197 to determine whether your system needs to be serviced.
