Why did I hear about this from my credit reporting agency instead of ADT?
We understand how concerning it can be to learn about something like this from another source, and we're sorry for any confusion or worry this may have caused. In some cases, credit reporting agencies notify individuals proactively based on their own monitoring services or contractual obligations. Their notifications are not always based on the specific level of exposure involved and often include alerts related to the sharing of publicly available information. As a result, those notifications can occur independently and before a company's direct outreach. ADT is following all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and is committed to communicating directly and transparently with impacted individuals as quickly as possible.
