When we think of New Year’s Eve, we think of a room packed with glittery dresses, of a big screen showing off the ball dropping in Times Square. We think of everyone counting down in unison to bring on the new year, all of their voices adding up to a roar.

If you’re more of a homebody, this New Year's Eve will be right up your alley. With most of the country shut down to keep us safe, a New Year's celebrated on the couch will be just what the doctor orders.

Celebrating at home doesn’t have to mean having just another night on the couch and calling it a night at 10 PM. Below, we have a few ways to still make the night sparkle just as bright as last year’s sequined dress.

Pop some bubbly

Whether your fancy drink of choice is sparkling grape juice, seltzer water or champagne, pop a bottle! Break out the fanciest cups you own and strut around like you own the place.

Try a new recipe for dinner

You don’t have to make something you can barely pronounce for it to be special. However, for your last meal of the year, wouldn’t it be great to try something you’ve never tried before?

Queue up “Auld Lang Syne” on your smart speaker

A New Years' classic. Because when everything else is different, a little tradition goes a long way.

Order all the noisemakers you can find online

We’re talking clappers, kazoos, maracas, bells and whistles, the works. And even though it’s bound to be cold outside your home, get out into your back yard and make some noise to bring in the new year!

Tune in virtually to the Times Square ball drop

No matter where you are in the world, the ball drop is a must-see. The Times Square official website has several ways you can watch the ball drop online. They offer a live webcast directly on their site here, with mobile streaming also available on NewYearseve.nyc and TimesSquareBall.net. You can also watch on social media via their Facebook and Twitter pages.

Get glammed up in your sequins – it’s still NYE

Glitz up and welcome that new year in style. It’ll feel good to take a break from your sweatpants, we promise.

Cheers to an unforgettable year and a #SafeAtHome New Year!
