The holiday season has typically been a period of mass gatherings of families and friends. While many are worried that new limitations will impact the special day, don’t stress, we have you covered. Here are some ways we are welcoming the holiday season.
Embrace the change
The best way to accept this change is to embrace it. One way to do this is to dress up the table, even if you're only setting it for two! Candles, crystal, whatever says 'fancy' to you. However, embracing the change also means tweaking old traditions, adopting new traditions, or finding another creative way to make the year memorable.
Dress the part
While safe at home attire is typically sweatpants, slippers, and a cozy fleece, dress up for the holiday like you would have for an in-person gathering. Surprise your household by showing up in your best evening wear, or even dressing as Santa!
Share a menu
Inarguably the best part of any holiday is the food. However, just because you are not meeting up with others doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy their food. Ask grandma for her famous secret recipe, make a menu to share remotely, the opportunities to bite into traditions are endless!
Make new traditions
While you might be downsizing, memories are still ready to be made. Make new traditions that you’ll remember for a lifetime: start a Zoom call with the extended fam, or take your food to go and have a picnic in the park. These are just some ideas to kickstart that tradition brainstorm.
Enjoy the leftovers
If you find it difficult to downsize your cooking or delivery order, enjoy the leftovers. On top of just having the same meal, creating new recipes with the extra food will have the entire family calling you Head Chef. If you have leftover ham, make a Cuban sandwich! Leftover mashed potatoes? Whip up some potato pancakes! There are endless opportunities to make delicious creations out of your leftovers.
